Programs for young adults (ages 18 to 21)
Young adults can choose between Leader in Training (L.I.T.) and Senior Program.
The Leader in Training (L.I.T.) Program provides an opportunity for young adults to learn and practice their leadership skills under the direct guidance of Destination Canada teachers, activity counsellors, camp coordinators, and the Camp Director.
The program encompasses:
- Daily specialized L.I.T. instruction
- 3 periods daily of supervised practical training – “learning to lead and teach” activities
- L.I.T. coordinator and individual mentors
- High English proficiency required
- 3- and 4-week program – specific dates apply
The Leader in Training (L.I.T.) program encourages seasoned campers to develop an awareness of social responsibility, while nurturing their individuality and self-confidence. The program goal is to teach young leaders the importance of being accountable for their actions, while helping them understand and appreciate their value in the community.
Instructional skills development in the following areas:
- Leadership
- Team work
- Effective communication skills
- Conflict resolution
- Organize and lead camp activities
2024 Program Price for 4 Week L.I.T. Program: $5,500 USD
2024 Program Price for 3 Week L.I.T. Program: $4,500 USD
Outdoor Adventure Day is included in the program price.
Please Note: Optional Tour to Toronto and Niagara Falls available on July 21-22: $ 550 USD.
The Senior Program provides young adults the opportunity to grow and practice their English language skills through interactive classroom lessons, along with daily cultural and social experiences in and around Canada’s capital city, Ottawa.
The program encompasses:
- 15 hours per week of innovative and personalized classroom lessons
- 15 hours per week of cultural immersion experiences in Ottawa
- Unique cultural activities
The Senior Program encourages students to develop an awareness of oneself, while gaining confidence through academic discussions, activities, presentations and conversations outside of the classroom.
Instructional skills development in the following areas:
- Development of all 4 language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing
- Focus on communication skills
- Learn strategies for effective CV (resume) writing and leading interview techniques
